How often do I need a powerflush?
Some systems have design faults that can cause air to be drawn in resulting on the system corroding faster, therefore needing more frequent flushing. If the system has been looked after with inhibitor being topped up yearly, most systems only need power-flushing every 5-6 years.

Can old systems be powerflushed?
YES, our equipment uses less pressure than the mains water so does not risk your system and by powerflushing old systems it keeps your heating more fuel efficient.

If I am changing my radiators do I need to powerflush?
YES it will still be beneficial as you are putting new radiators onto the existing sludged up pipework, so after the new radiators are installed, we will flush out your system and balance all of your radiators to help you with getting the maximum efficiency out of the system.

Can microbore or single pipe systems be powerflushed?
YES, being a specialist company we have a lot of experience and knowledge with unusual systems and our engineers are fully equipped ready to face the more challenging of systems.

Do you need to be Gas Safe registered to powerflush?
NO, but It is preferred a competent heating Engineer carry out a powerflush. All our Engineers are Gas Safe registered to guarantee our workmanship.

Is it compulsory to powerflush a system when fitting a new boiler?
All boiler manufactures require that the system that the new boiler is being fitted too is powerflushed to prevent sludge getting in to the new boiler and void the warranty.

Can a powerflushing cause leaks?
Only if a fault already exists such as a radiator rusted through. It is far better for an on-site Engineer to deal with a leaky radiator in a controlled way than for a leak to occur randomly maybe while a house is empty during a holiday. Please note in the unlikely event of a radiator leaking we cannot be held liable and the replacement will be chargeable. This only occurs in extreme cases in which the pinhole has been blocked by sludge and we expose the problem by removing the muck. As stated this is very unlikely and it’s better to expose the problem while we are there.

Can a powerflush clear blockages?
YES and NO. If pipework is partially blocked the powerflush can unblock it. If a pipe is fully blocked then the machine cannot clear it and other methods will need to be used. This can be the case if you find a radiator doesn’t ever get hot, there is a chance it’s blocked. If the radiator gets some warmth, then it may be partially blocked. If it is fully blocked, a small pressurised hand pump will need to be used. This is subject to extra cost, and some blockages cannot be cleared. In some cases the pipe will need to be replaced.

What are the main benefits of having your system powerflushed?
The main benefit is an increased efficiency from your system. Deposits from the system can get in to the boilers heat exchanger shortening the boilers lifespan, a powerflush will clean through the heat exchanger and once inhibitor is re-added to the system, this will prevent more sludge getting in reducing the risk of boiler break downs. Radiators will see an increase in temperature, components such as the central heating pump will work without the restriction of sludge, prolonging its life. If your system is running clean as opposed to a dirty system, you boiler will not have to work as hard to heat the house, which can result in lower fuel bills.

Powerflushing your central heating system can be compared to getting your car serviced. The car may feel like its running the same as before it went in to the garage, but in the long run the change of oil and the maintenance of the components makes it last much longer and is the right thing to do!
